Aftermarc ("we", "us", "our") is a gaming tracking and discovery platform operated by Arie Roos. Our website is available at aftermarc.com. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at arie.roos14@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

• Account data: Your email address and username when you register.
• Profile data: Your display name, avatar, bio, and any other information you add to your profile.
• Game collection: The games you add, their status (Playing, Played, Backlog, Wishlist), and your ratings and reviews.
• Journey entries: Any journal entries, photos, and notes you write about your gaming sessions.
• Steam library: If you choose to connect your Steam account, we import your game list. We do not store your Steam password.
• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and actions taken — collected anonymously via PostHog analytics.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and cookies — collected automatically when you visit.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and operate the Aftermarc service.
• To personalise your experience and show you relevant game recommendations.
• To allow you to track your game collection and write journal entries.
• To send you notifications about activity on your profile (follows, likes, comments).
• To analyse how the platform is used so we can improve it.
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase: Our database and authentication provider. Stores your account and all user-generated content. Based in the EU. supabase.com
• PostHog: Anonymous usage analytics and session recording. We do not send your email address to PostHog. Hosted in the EU. posthog.com
• Google / Facebook: If you sign up or log in with Google or Facebook, they share your name, email, and profile photo with us to create your account. We do not see or store your password for these services.
• Steam (Valve): If you import your Steam library, we query the Steam API on your behalf. We do not share your data with Valve beyond what is required to fetch your library.
• Vercel: Our hosting provider. Processes request logs including IP addresses. vercel.com

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

• Essential cookies: Required for login sessions and site security. Cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: Used by PostHog to understand how visitors use the site. You can opt out via the cookie banner.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are based in the UK or EU, you have the following rights:

• Right to access — request a copy of your personal data.
• Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure — ask us to delete your account and all associated data.

7. Data retention

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Aftermarc is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the site. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
